Lady Gaga's Facebook and Twitter hacked by phishers

Lady Gaga's social networking empire has survived a hacking and phishing attack.

As Digital Spy reports, her Facebook and Twitter pages had posted messages purporting to give fans the chance to win a special edition Lady Gaga iPad and other iPad goodies.

One message on her Facebook is said have claimed: "Lady GaGa's new iPad comes out in three days! So for the next 72 hours we will be hosting a massive giveaway to all the Mother Monster fans. Sign up and receive your special Lady GaGa edition iPad in time for the Holidays!"

However, it duped eager fans into giving away their personal details. The real Lady Gaga took to Twitter and Facebook yesterday (December 19) to confirm that the hacking had stopped. She said:

"Phew. The hacking is over! And just in time, I'm on my way to Japan! So excited to spend Xmastime with my TokyoMonsters."
