Lady Gaga has "happiest day ever" as she collects John Lennon peace prize

Lady Gaga has expressed her joy at collecting a LennonOno Peace Prize.

The 'Born This Way' singer picked up the award yesterday (October 9) in honour of how she uses "art to bring better communication to the world".

The ceremony took place in Iceland and Yoko Ono was on hand to give Gaga the gong.

The singer took to Twitter to call the day the "happiest" she has ever had and upload photos of herself with John Lennon's widow Ono. Gaga said:

"Today was happiest day i've ever had. Here's me with my LennonOno Peace Prize. Yoko says, its a piece of the sky."

Other recipients of the award on the day included Rachel Corrie, John Perkins, Christopher Hitchens and imprisoned Russians Pussy Riot.

As previously reported, Gaga's label boss Vincent Herbert recently revealed that her forthcoming new album 'ARTPOP' is sounding "really great".
