Lady Gaga reveals she broke her hip and nearly needed replacement surgery

Lady Gaga has revealed the extent of her recent hip injury and said that she could have been out of action for over a year.

As previously reported, the superstar singer cancelled a number of tour dates earlier this year after undergoing surgery on a labral tear.

However, in a new interview with WWD, Gaga said that she actually broke her hip and had massive holes in her bones.

The 'Applause' star added that if she had performed one more show, she may have had to undergo a hip replacement, which would have set her back over a year. The singer said:

“I had broken my hip. Nobody knew, and I haven’t even told the fans yet. But when we got all the MRIs finished before I went to surgery there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip. I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage.

"The surgeon told me that if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement. I would have been out at least a year, maybe longer."

Gaga meanwhile has confirmed that her next single, which will be released on August 19, will be called 'Applause'.
