Lady Gaga debuts world's first flying dress

Lady Gaga's wardrobe has a new addition - a flying dress.

The singer is well known for her flamboyant outfits but she took it one further last night (November 10) in New York with the unveiling of what she says is the first flying dress.

She took to the air at Brooklyn's Navy Yard as part of a special 'ARTPOP' album launch event.

The US star could be seen donning a helmet before strapping herself into the extravagant battery-powered white dress, which she calls Volantis. Gaga then travelled a short distance across the room.

Tweeting before the event, the singer said: "At 6pm EST today we will beta test VOLANTIS with the world. We invite you into our creative process during her initial stages of lift off."

The flying dress ties in somewhat with the singer's apparent desire to become the first person to sing in space, which is slated to happen in 2015.

Gaga also performed tracks from 'ARTPOP', which is released today (November 11).

It is her third full album, following on from 2011's 'Born This Way'.
