Lady Gaga isn't interested in taking Madonna's "throne"

Lady Gaga has distanced herself from tensions with Madonna, stating that isn't she wanting to usurp the legendary pop singer.

The two acts have had a somewhat fractious relationship after Gaga's 'Born This Way' was noted for sounding too similar to Madonna's 1989 song 'Express Yourself'.

Their flamboyant characters and penchant for style have also likened the two singers, but the 'Applause' lady told Howard Stern's radio show that she isn't looking to act as a threat to Queen of Pop Madonna.

In fact, she doesn't want a "throne" at all, suggesting that she is one of her own fans. Gaga said:

"I think [Madonna's] more aggravated that I'm not upset that she doesn't like me. 'Cause I don't care that she doesn't like me...No, I don't care...It's such nonsense. [Attacks from people like Perez Hilton are] really rooted in Madonna, that's the centre of it. It's silly...There's always this pissing match: 'She's taking her torch, is she the new her, is she going to outlast her or not?'."

The singer added: "There's this thing with some people that I'm a threat to the throne. I don't want your f**king throne, no thanks, I have my own. I actually don't want a throne at all, because I don't view myself as a queen, I view myself as one of my fans."

Madonna referenced Gaga's 'Born This Way' in a medley on her MDNA tour last year, but it is thought the cameo was made in jest.

The younger singer recently said that she was "floored" that Madonna was even thinking of her on stage, regardless of the reference's intention.
