Lady Gaga has thanked fans for snapping up tickets to her forthcoming North America tour - and she told them to expect an "unforgettable" night.

The singer recently announced plans to tour the US and Canada in the summer as part of her artRave: The ARTPOP Ball Tour.

It will kick off in May and run through to July, with European dates expected to take place after the jaunt has finished.

Tickets have just gone on sale and Gaga took to Twitter to express her gratitude at those who have purchased some.

She said: "THANK U SO MUCH, to all the fans who bought tickets to the tour. It's been the best xmas present ever. This show will be unforgettable. X."

The tour will come in support of her latest album 'ARTPOP', which was released in November.

It instantly hit No.1 in numerous countries worldwide, including the UK and her native US.
