Lana Del Rey has revealed that she was on the cusp of working with Lou Reed.

The singer told the Guardian that her new song 'Brooklyn Baby' was written with the Velvet Underground man - who died in 2013 - in mind.

However, the singer and musician sadly passed away as Del Rey arrived to work with him.

She said: "I took the red eye, touched down at 7am...and two minutes later he died."

'Brooklyn Baby' features on Del Rey's new album 'Ultraviolence', which is being released in the UK on June 16.

It follows up her previous record, 2012's 'Born To Die'.
