Songstress Lana Del Rey will be honoured at this year's Billboard Women In Music Awards as a 'Trailblazer'.

Paramore's Hayley Williams was the 2014 Trailblazer honouree, and Janice Min, the awards ceremony's boss, explained the decision in a statement:

"Lana Del Rey has done things her way from the moment she first burst on the scene (sic), and continues to make brave and bold choices that defy convention. She's a trailblazer from her music to her mystery to her multitude of other interests. She keeps everyone awaiting her next move."

She will receive her prize at the event in New York City event on December 11 and other honourees include Demi Lovato, who will take home the inaugural 'Rulebreaker' prize, and Selena Gomez, who has been picked to receive the Chart Topper title.
