Leona Lewis: 'My dad always said to me, 'don't believe the hype''

Songstress Leona Lewis has revealed that her perception of herself hasn't changed because she refuses to be affected by the things written about her in the media.

Speaking to Fault magazine recently, the beauty explained that she never reads things about herself in the press because she knows better than to occupy her mind with gossip:

"I try to not let it. I don't ever look at comments or what people say about me, because there's some people that are just crazy and say crazy things. My dad always said to me, 'don't believe the hype', and I never have. It keeps you real, as you're not feeding into what everyone else is saying."

Lewis also opened up about fame and confessed that there have been times where she has felt completely overwhelmed by it all: "There were times when I felt very overwhelmed. Yeah. I didn't realise how huge everything would be and how demanding it was. It was crazy. Just crazy. I had to be around the world, everywhere, at the same time. But in those moments I always had my family around and they helped me get myself together."
