Lily Allen tests out new music on her young children

Lily Allen says her young kids give her the perfect opportunity to test out new music.

The singer has been busy for some months working on the follow up her 2009 record 'It's Not Me, It's You'.

She has so far released two songs from the effort and Allen told Capital FM that whilst she hasn't sampled her two kids - like Jay Z did with his offspring Blue Ivy - she has been using them to gauge their reactions.

The singer said: "I haven't done any of that sampling. But you know what, little babies are really quite good to test your music out on.  [Air Balloon] - which hopefully you're gonna play today, and again tomorrow I hope - my eldest one just loves it so much and she calls it the 'Ponky tune'!"

Allen was referring to the new track 'Air Balloon', which was premiered today (January 13). It will be released in the UK on March 2.

The singer meanwhile recently opened up to NME about record companies and their seeming lack of adventure, saying:

"What p***es me off about music right now is the lack of support for being experimental and brave. People just want to be formulaic and predictable. Record companies and A&R people are just absolutely terrified of taking risks at the moment – and that's quite frustrating as an artist, when it comes to picking singles, because they only ever want to go for the watered-down stuff."
