Lily Allen: "Everyone assumes I made millions from the John Lewis ad, but I probably made £8k"

Lily Allen has revealed how much she earned from her John Lewis advert song.

The singer teamed up with the British retailer last year to record the song 'Somewhere Only We Know' for one of their adverts.

The animal themed commercial and the song became massive, with the tune reaching No.1 in the UK.

However, Allen told Beat that she pocketed nowhere near as much money as people think from the collaboration.

When asked if there isn't much money to be made from music these days, the 'Sheezus' star said:

"Nothing. Everyone assumes I made millions from the John Lewis ad – I probably made £8k."

When asked where the money is, Allen responded:

"I could sing it at my live shows, but I’m not going to do that. Or say, some rich kid in Russia asks me to sing it at their birthday party. That’s how it works. And people ask why I did it – I did it because I wanted it to fight 'Hard Out Here' – I thought it was funny."
