Lily Allen's charity joy

Lily Allen has publicly thanked fans for her 'Twitrelief' campaign, which saw her auction off a few hours of her time that she then promised to spend with the winning bidder in aid of Comic Relief.

When learning that she had raised over £3,000, she tweeted (March 21):

"£3600, well whoever won, thank you. You'll enjoy it, I promise."

The 'Not Fair' chart topper has also shamed News of the World's showbiz editor, Dan Wooton, after he made some less than complimentary comments about Cher Lloyd.

He said:

"Love how Cher Lloyd hasn't had one hit single yet but acts as if she's Rihanna. She'll be begging to be written about in a few months."

Allen, who has experienced more than her fair share of the media's negativity, rushed to the young star's defence and wrote:

"You're a grown man for christ's sake. she is essentially a child. Give the poor thing a break."

"I imagine she gets enough shit from kids her own age, grown ups need not pile in. So she's going through a phase, give her a break."
