Singer Lily Allen has hit back at remarks by a UK newspaper columnist that said she was an “over-privileged cry-baby”.

Writer for The Sun, Julie Burchill, made the comments in a recent article she wrote in support of Cheryl Cole over the Girls Aloud singer’s alleged axing from the US version of ‘The X Factor’.

Cole and Allen had a much-publicised feud years ago, which Burchill rehashes for her article, writing: "I Adore Cheryl Cole... I adore the way she spat back at that over-privileged cry-baby Lily Allen when the public-school tool took a poke at her way back in the day."  

Lily Allen was incensed over the article today and took to Twitter to lash out at the writer. "Julie Burchill, you are an ignorant and bitter old troll,” she wrote, “but I guess you know that already... She's the snob, I am many things, a snob is not one of them. I am a dwarf though.

"The amateur psychiatrist in me says (she) see's (sic) a lot of her younger self in me, and she's a bit of a ‘self-loather’. #poorjulieburchill."
