Lily Allen defends Dappy's controversial new song

Lily Allen has backed Dappy after his new track 'Tarzan 2 (I'm Coming)' provoked criticism.

Dappy's cousin and N-Dubz bandmate Tulisa Contostavlos publicly lamented the acidic nature of the track, which attacks Simon Cowell and his X Factor empire.

Lily Allen, however, took to Twitter today (July 4) to suggest that Dappy's song is a breath of fresh air in the pop world.

She added that why people are so shocked by the freestyle track is "beyond" her. She said:

"Dappy's new tune is jokes, in a good way. Thoroughly entertaining and insightful which is more than I can say for most things on the radio."

She continued: "And also, since when is pop music meant to be politically correct? Why people are so shocked by it is beyond me."
