The awards ceremony tomorrow (27th October) is being held at Troxy Theatre, London and is hosted by Laura Whitmore (currently to be strutting her funky stuff on Strictly Come Dancing) and Chris Stark (Co-host of Radio 1 Scott Mill’s Show). The nomination keeps Malaika’s start in the ascendancy and is an impressive prequel to the January release of new single “I Don’t Feel The Same”. The single is a co-write between Malaika and uber hit-making production and writing team John Beck and Steve Chrisanthou (Corinne Bailey Rae amongst others). While we wait for the first taste of the new single, you can check out Malaika’s track “Call Me Honey” on SoundCloud Malaika SoundCloud – Call Me Honey
“Call Me Honey” got Malaika her firrst Radio 1 play and is a perfect introduction to what she is about.
Following some impressive live shows with artists such as Jamie Cullum, Luke Friend and Mica Paris, the UMA nomination seems an apt and deserved way to end 2016. The awards show will be broadcast on Showcase TV (Sky 212, Freeview 254 and Freesat 161) on Monday, 31st October 2016. New single “I Don’t Feel the Same” will be released in January 2017.
