LONDON, UK (6th Mar, 2017) – FOREIGNER are bringing their worldwide 40th Anniversary Tour to the UK this autumn with four very special shows in Wolverhampton, Glasgow, Manchester and, for the first time ever, London’s esteemed Royal Albert Hall.
This special series of concerts will be a true homecoming for founding member and lead guitarist, Mick Jones and FOREIGNER’s European 40th Anniversary Tour, where fans will see why it Feels Like The First Time, when FOREIGNER’s performances include their unforgettable anthems I Want To Know What Love Is, Juke Box Hero, Waiting For A Girl Like You, Cold As Ice, Feels Like The First Time, Hot Blooded, Urgent and That Was Yesterday.
Says Mick Jones, “I never could have imagined when I set out to create Foreigner forty years ago, that we’d still be touring around the world and performing the music we love all these years later. I can’t express the gratitude I feel when fans share stories of how our songs have been woven into their milestones and memories over the years.”
As for playing the legendary Royal Albert Hall for the first time, says Mick, “Playing at The Royal Albert Hall has been a childhood dream, as one of my earliest memories was attending a Gustav Holst concert, mesmerized by Sir Malcolm Sargent conducting ‘The Planet Suite.’ To perform with my band at this iconic venue decades later, as Foreigner celebrates its 40th Anniversary Year, is a true honour.”
FOREIGNER is a formidable musical arsenal that continues to propel sold-out tours and album sales, with ten multi-platinum albums and sixteen Top 30 hits. FOREIGNER are one of the most popular rock acts in the world, with album sales now exceeding 75 million. Responsible for some of rock and roll’s most enduring songs, the band continues to rock the charts more than thirty years on. The band recently released a new 10” vinyl 4 track EP ‘The Flame Still Burns’, and the 40th Anniversary celebrations will continue with the release of a double album tracing the four decades long history of FOREIGNER. This exciting May release will contain new songs as well as all of the much-loved hits.
The UK dates will include special guests Asia and John Parr. Asia will be performing in memory and celebration of founder member John Wetton, who passed away in January 2017. Already signed up are Steve Howe on guitar and Geoff Downes (keys, vox), together with John Wetton’s chosen successor, Billy Sherwood on lead vocal and bass guitar, and other Asia guests to announce.
John Parr, famous for his US No.1 hit ‘St Elmo’s Fire’ in 1985, will be performing an acoustic set. Fans will be treated to the best of Johns fantastic catalogue of songs including ‘Restless Heart’, ‘Naughty, Naughty’, ‘The Minute I Saw You’ and the ‘St Elmo’s Fire’.
Back in the U.S., FOREIGNER will continue to celebrate their “40th Anniversary Tour” along with Cheap Trick and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience, set to launch in Syracuse, NY on July 11th.
