LIVE NATION CELEBRATES REACHING £1MILLION FUNDRAISING MILESTONE FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK

THIS December Live Nation Music UK, the world’s leading live entertainment company, is celebrating after reaching a milestone of over £1million in its fundraising for Cancer Research UK to help fund the charity’s vital research into beating all types of cancer.

Founded in 2008, the partnership between Live Nation and Cancer Research UK raises funds primarily through Live Nation’s festivals, including Wireless and Hard Rock Calling in London, and Download festival at Donington Park. Ticketmaster also provides the donation option on tickets available for many Live Nation events.

As part of the integrated partnership Live Nation has also supported Cancer Research UK through the sponsorship of events and providing gifts in kind. Staff fundraising further contributed to the £1million raised. Individual staff members took on ambitious fundraising challenges, most notably ‘The Long Walk’, which involved two senior managers of Live Nation walking 144 miles from Donington to Hyde Park in just five days.  Staff also took part in the ‘Tri-Life’ triathlon challenge, pushing themselves to the limit over the year and participating in a marathon, London to Paris Cycle ride and a Kilimanjaro trek.

Caroline Silke, head of corporate partnerships at Cancer Research UK, said: “We are so grateful for the support of Live Nation and we are thrilled they have reached such a fantastic milestone of over £1million in their fundraising efforts. Cancer Research UK does not receive any government funding so every pound raised by Live Nation will help fund our life-saving work into all types of cancer. We will beat cancer one day and with the continued support of Live Nation to fund more research, this day will come sooner.”

Paul Latham, COO at Live Nation, said: “Live Nation is delighted to have reached the million pound milestone in its fundraising for Cancer Research UK. The great work the charity does inspires the Live Nation staff to ever more creative and challenging feats to help fight this most onerous of illnesses. Together we can all beat cancer and we will continue towards that goal.”
