John Newman has seen his debut album hit No.5 in the US iTunes chart.

The British singer released his maiden effort 'Tribute' on January 7 in the States and it is performing well.

He tweeted on the day of its release: "I've gone to Number 5 in the American album chart with #tribute."

Newman added: "An amazing day in my career today, to finish it off with more good news im here performing for @latenightjimmy."

The singer achieved a UK No.1 when 'Tribute' was released in the country in October.

It features the chart-topping hit single 'Love Me Again'.

Newman meanwhile is due to tour his native UK soon, with the run kicking off in Southampton on January 27.
