Miley Cyrus has offered some words of advice to Justin Bieber - party in the safety of your own home.

The 19-year-old Canadian has been in trouble with the law on two occasions recently after a year of negative headlines.

He has been charged with assaulting a driver in Canada and before that he was arrested in Miami on three different charges relating to driving.

Cyrus is a friend of Bieber and she was asked on Jay Leno's chat show if she had any words of advice for the embattled star.

She replied: "I would just say...you've got a lot money - pay people to make sure you don't get in trouble. And party at your house."

Cyrus meanwhile recently performed with Madonna on MTV's Unplugged show - something which she said was "f**king cool".
