The Vamps have reached the semi-final of a contest that will ultimately pick the best cover of One Direction's 'Story of My Life'.

The rising British stars paid homage to the global heartthrobs by covering their hit single late last year.

It was entered in Ryan Seacrest's poll to find the best cover of the track and it had been performing well.

It has now reached the semi-final and the group have been encouraging fans to vote for their version.

However, it seems that The Vamps are lagging behind. At the time of writing, they only have 6% of the votes.

In the lead is Josh Levi with 30.48% whilst Irish twins Jedward are second with 28.26% of the votes.

Voting for the semi-final closes on February 9 and the final will open on February 10.
