P!nk and Katy Perry shoot inspiring Cover Girl commercial

Cosmetics brand Cover Girl has unveiled a new campaign called 'Girls Can' and enrolled the likes of P!nk, Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, and Queen Latifah for its accompanying commercial.

Speaking about the expectations that come with being a female solo artist, P!nk explains: "I was always told singers should really just sing. I thought, 'OK, let's challenge that whole notion.' I like it when people say you can't do something."

Songstress Katy Perry also adds her own limitation to the list, telling the camera "girls can't be strong", Janelle Monáe muses that "girls can't dance crazy", and Queen Latifah reveals that she was told 'no' to a lot of things throughout her career:

"I heard that girls couldn't rap... I rapped. I heard girls couldn't own businesses... I owned my own business."

P!nk, meanwhile, has just been confirmed as an official performer at the forthcoming Oscars, which is due to take place next weekend on Sunday, March 2. Tweeting about the exciting news earlier today (February 21), she explained: "Big news!!! I'd like to thank @TheAcademy for inviting me to perform on the #Oscars on March 2nd!! #holycow."
