Former X Factor hopeful Ruth Lorenzo has been picked to sing for Spain at this year's Eurovision.

The performer, who finished fifth on the 2008 series of the UK TV talent show, won a contest on Saturday (February 22) to bag the rights to represent the country.

Lorenzo, who was born in Murcia, will perform the song 'Dancing in the Rain' when Eurovision returns on May 10.

The event will take place at the B&W Hallerne in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Last year's Eurovision Song Contest meanwhile was won by Denmark's Emmelie de Forest.
