One Direction tribute band: 'Girls scream and cry when we perform'

Only One Direction, a tribute band to the 'Little Things' heartthrobs', have opened up about impersonating the boyband and confessed that they can experience fame without anyone invading their personal lives so they have the best of both worlds.

Matt Brinkler, who performs as Niall, told the Daily Star newspaper that it's great to enjoy the attention when they're on stage as One Direction because as soon as they step out of that role no one recognises them:

"There’s all this greatness and craziness when you’re on stage and then as soon as you’ve done the meet and greet afterwards – everything goes back to normal. It’s like you’re famous for a little while and you get the buzz of being on stage – but none of the stresses and pressure – you can just walk down the street like a normal guy."

Singer Aaron Foster added: "The reaction of people when we perform is crazy. It’s mental – when there are girls crying, they want you to touch their hands and sign their skin – its a really surreal experience."

The lads took to their Twitter page this afternoon to reassure national media that they're only a tribute band and don't claim to be One Direction lookalikes after several damning articles that have surfaced over the past few days, writing:

"A lot of our national media has been confused between TRIBUTE BAND and 'LOOK-ALIKES' lol. @MetroUK @BuzzFeed but thanks for the articles :-D"
