Beck and Bastille battle it out in midweek UK albums chart

Beck could land his first UK No.1 album this weekend.

The American released his new record 'Morning Phase' on Monday (February 24) and the Official Charts Company have confirmed in their midweek update today (February 26) that it is No.1.

However, it is only 450 copies ahead of its nearest competitor, Bastille's 'Bad Blood'.

If Beck holds off the Brits come Sunday (March 2) then he will achieve his first ever No.1 album in the UK.

At No.3 on the midweek update meanwhile is Arctic Monkeys and their 2013 hit 'AM', which is 1,000 copies away from first place.

No.4 goes to Ellie Goulding's 'Halcyon' whilst Beyoncé's surprise self-titled effort is No.5.
