Morrissey: "I don't know a single person who wants a Smiths reunion"

Morrissey has claimed that he doesn't know anyone who wants to see The Smiths reunite.

The popular indie group split in 1987 before singer Morrissey launched a successful solo career.

However, the told Billboard that he feels there isn't any demand for the UK group to relaunch.

The singer said: "I don't know a single person who wants a Smiths reunion! There aren't any bands I [would] like to see again because your memory of them is how they were in their prime or at their best or at their most desperate, and you look to them to be someone that they no longer are."

Morrissey meanwhile has tapped up Sir Tom Jones and Sir Cliff Richard to support him at two massive US dates this year.

When asked by Billboard what impresses him about these two "veterans", the Smiths man replied:

"Veteran is a gentle way of saying 'old', isn't it? Well, it's only my view of course, but everything is a question of style, and Tom and Cliff qualify greatly in the style department, and age has nothing to do with it. There are millions of obese 19-year olds who only buy clothes that blend in with the couch."
