Lady Gaga responds to Demi Lovato's "glorifying eating disorders" comment

Lady Gaga has hit back at comments made by Demi Lovato regarding her recent performance at SXSW.

The ‘Neon Lights’ singer criticised Lady Gaga and the artists Millie Brown for a live performance that involved Brown vomiting paint onto Gaga.

Demi made her views on Gaga’s performance known via Twitter by writing: “Sad… As if we didn't have enough people glamorizing eat disorders already. Bottom line, it's not ‘cool’ or ‘artsy’ at all.”

Lady Gaga has now addressed Lovato’s remarks in an interview with E! News.

The ‘ARTPOP’ star stated: “I have struggled with an eating disorder for over 10 years and I take that very seriously, I take the struggle of others very seriously.”

She continued: “I am very supportive of Demi's struggle and her recovery as well as the recovery of anyone who is suffering from that. But this performance had absolutely nothing to do with any eating disorder, and we never intended for it to be taken that way.”

Gaga concluded: “I'm really proud of the performance and really stand by the message of rage and pain that we were trying to express in that moment.”

Vomit artist Millie Brown has also spoken out against Demi Lovato’s views.
