Serena Ryder defends Justin Bieber at Juno Awards after boos: "He is an amazing musician"

Serena Ryder backed Justin Bieber after his name was booed at Canada's Juno Awards.

The music awards ceremony was held this weekend and Bieber bagged the Fan Choice Award, but he was not there to collect the gong.

However, the audience booed when it was announced that the 20-year-old had won the prize.

Serena Ryder - who won the Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year awards - later criticised the crowd for booing, saying:

"Justin Bieber is an amazing musician and he deserved every bit of that award because he's been working his ass off his entire life. We need to support how awesome he is. He's great. He's amazing."

Members of the Canada Olympic women's curling team were on hand to collect Bieber's award on his behalf.

Other winners meanwhile on the night included Arcade Fire, Tegan and Sara and Bruno Mars.
