US sanctions may halt Miley Cyrus and Justin Timberlake gigs in Finland

A number of gigs by US artists due to be held in Finland could be under threat as a result of America's sanctions placed against some Russians.

The likes of Miley Cyrus and Justin Timberlake are scheduled to play at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki soon.

However, the venue is owned by Russian oil man Gannady Timchenko and brothers Boris and Arkady Rotenberg.

The trio are among a number of high-profile Russians who have had sanctions placed against them following the country's annexation of Crimea in Ukraine.

This means that no US citizen can give them "economic resources" - bringing into doubt concerts at the venue involving Americans.

Promoter Live Nation Finland said: "If [concerts held by American artists are affected], then we will need to come up with a different solution. But I believe that the problem will be solved and the concerts will be held."

Other US artists due to play the arena soon include Nine Inch Nails and Aerosmith.
