Aloe Blacc's 'The Man' debuts at No. 1 on UK singles chart

Aloe Blacc has scored his first ever solo No. 1 UK single with ‘The Man’.

‘The Man’ is Aloe Blacc’s – real name Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III – highest charting tune since 2011’s ‘I Need A Dollar’ which peaked at No. 2.

The 35-year-old soul singer has previously featured on a chart-topping hit though as his vocals appeared uncredited on Avicii’s smash ‘Wake Me Up’.

Another American musician achieving his highest charting single to date is John Legend as ‘All Of Me’ climbs three places to reach No. 2.

The rest of this week’s top five is made up by ‘I Got U’ from Duke Dumont featuring Jax Jones down one to No. 3, ‘My Love’ by Route 94 and Jess Glynne is a non-mover at No. 4 and Faul & Wad Ad Vs Pnau’s ‘Changes’ is down two to No. 5.

New entries to the rest of the top 40 come from John Martin with ‘Anywhere For You’ at No. 7 and Paolo Nutini at No. 12 with ‘Scream (Funk My Life Up)’.

Other tracks making moves in the chart include Shakira’s ‘Empire’ which is up 36 places to No. 25 and ‘Your Love’ by the late Frankie Knuckles has made its top 40 debut as it originally charted at No. 59 in 1989.
