Lily Allen says she nearly died after miscarriage

Lily Allen has admitted that she was close to death after suffering blood poisoning following a miscarriage.

The singer first lost a child during pregnancy in 2008 with her ex Ed Simons, who is in the Chemical Brothers.

The 'Hard Out Here' lady suffered a second miscarriage in 2010 after six months pregnant - but she told The Sun that the septicaemia she endured after the incident was near-fatal.

She said: "I nearly died. But I was just numb and I didn't care. I'd just lost my baby and that is a reflection of how numb I was."

Allen added about her miscarriage ordeals: "It was horrendous and something I would not wish on my worst enemy. It's something that I still haven't dealt with. I will never get over it. I have dealt with it, you know, as being at one with it. But it's not something that you get over."

Speaking meanwhile about her 2010 incident, the singer said that husband Sam Cooper proved to be her rock.

She said: "Sam saved me for sure. I was self-medicating with alcohol and whatever else and Sam was obviously attracted to me when I was like that. He could see that I was being self-destructive and at one point he said, 'What are you doing? I would really like to be with you, but I can't be with you if you are going to be like this all the time'. Sam introduced me to myself. The real me."

Allen has since had two children with Cooper - Ethel, two, and Marnie, one.
