Iggy Azalea on her success: 'I didn't expect anything'

'Change Your Life' songstress Iggy Azalea has revealed that her success came as a surprise because she never really expected anything to come from making music.

Speaking to Radio.com about her career to date, the Australian artist explained: "I don't know if I expected anything. I think other people expect things and I think to myself, 'Hey look, I do female rap'. That's what I am, I'm a female rapper. That's always a weird situation, you never know how it's going to be. It's [rap] not the most popular kind of thing in the world."

The 'Fancy' beauty added that watching music videos and listening to tracks were ways in which she could escape her own reality: "Its [music] escapism to me. I'm from the country and music videos and film, those were my escape to sparking my imagination."

"I didn't get to see really well dressed women in the street or expensive cars or people walking into a restaurant. I only got to see them in music videos."

Earlier this week, it was announced that Azalea will perform in London later this year, on September 17, at the Shepherd's Bush Empire for a one-off headlining concert. Tickets for the show will go on public sale from 9am on Saturday, April 19.
