Jack White scores world's fastest-released record

Over the weekend (April 19), rocker Jack White celebrated Record Store Day by creating the fastest release of a record ever.

The White Stripes star took the song, entitled 'Lazaretto', from the studio onto cut vinyl available in store in just four hours, which set a brand new record, and he explained to MTV News that it was an incredible challenge:

"We have the fifth-year anniversary of Third Man Records, this is our fifth Record Store Day, we had my new album coming out... George Ingram, who we call Dr. Groove around here, is our master cutter and he had this idea of cutting the world's fastest record a couple of years ago. So, we thought this was the right time."

White added that there were a few hiccups along the way: "We had a horrible moment last night about 23:00 where the record cutter, the cutting mechanism blew up. So the only other cutter we had that we could use that was in town was a mono head, so we actually cut this single in mono, which I think is actually even cooler than the way we were gonna do it."
