Pet Shop Boys and Paloma Faith to play at BBC Proms

Pet Shop Boys and Paloma Faith are among the contemporary names on this year's BBC Proms bill.

The broadcaster is set to hold their annual celebration of classical music over two months from July 18.

Pet Shop Boys will premiere an orchestral piece inspired by the wartime codebreaker Alan Turing at London's Royal Albert Hall on July 23.

They will also run through reworked versions of some of their previous songs.

The duo said in a statement: "It is an honour for us to be invited to present some new music at the Proms and to celebrate Alan Turing 60 years after his death."

Paloma Faith will play the Royal Albert Hall on September 5 as part of the Proms' 'Late Night With...' series, whilst Rufus Wainwright will play on September 11.

Laura Mvula meanwhile is scheduled to play the same venue on August 19.
