Paul Simon and wife Edie Brickell charged with disorderly conduct

Paul Simon and his wife Edie Brickell were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at the weekend.

New Canaan Police in Connecticut confirmed at a press conference on Monday (April 28) that the musical couple, who have been married for 20 years, had been showing "aggressiveness on both sides" on Saturday (April 26).

The police were called by someone in Simon's house to deal with a "a family dispute".

When they arrived, officers found 'minor injuries' and believed it to be a case of domestic violence.

Police chief Leon Krolikowski added: "They're both victims and they have children involved and we're trying to be very cautious of that."

Simon and Brickell appeared in Norwalk Superior Court on Monday.

The former said outside court: "We're fine. We love each other. We're fine. We had an argument. It's over. We're going to go back home today. We're going to watch our son play baseball. Neither one of us has any fear or any reason to feel threatened."
