Sam Smith: 'My main aim now is to fall in love'

'Money On My Mind' singer Sam Smith has revealed that falling in love is his next goal because it would give him something real to write about and from genuine personal experience.

During an interview with Carson Daly recently, the rising star confessed that he would like to pen tracks about his own romantic adventures: "My main aim right now, other than the music, is to just fall in love because I can’t have an 'In The Lonely Hour, Part Two' for my second album! I’m too busy, but it’s fine…I’m good. Honestly, I’m not panicking."

Smith went on to admit that singing about love is something he has always been interested in and drawn to, but because he's never had a relationship before it's quite tricky to get it right:

"As a lover of soul music, I wanted to sing love songs. But when I was writing this album, I found it difficult because I’ve never been in a relationship before. So I started writing music that was about unrequited love. This whole album kind of deals with my battle with loneliness, but it’s not a sad album, it’s an empowering album. I’m saying the things which I think some people can’t say, and finding strength with that.”

Smith, meanwhile, has just confirmed that he will be performing at the 2014 Radio 1 Big Weekend event in Glasgow, which will also see live sets from the likes of Bastille, One Direction, and Ed Sheeran.
