The mother of One Direction heartthrob Louis Tomlinson, Johannah, has rushed to his defence after followers of the boyband made negative remarks about his look in the boys' new music video for 'You & I'. 

When told by a Directioner on Twitter that a lot of fans don't like his new look and that maybe he should look into getting a restyle, Johannah explained that if they are true fans they will respect his appearance and not criticise him unnecessarily:

"It's like this! Real respect is unconditional - it's not based on hairstyles haha! I think he looks lovely xxx."

Another follower then asked Johannah if she misses having Louis at home and she confessed that she really does: "I really do. We just didn't actually realise he was going away - he auditioned & then never really came home. Xxx."

Tomlinson, meanwhile, recently spoke out about the group's new single and admitted that it's an important release for them because it has a more serious appeal: "It feels slightly more serious for us. I think it's an important song for us."
