Blue's Lee Ryan pleads guilty to urinating in police cell

Singer Lee Ryan, of Blue fame, has today (May 2) pleaded guilty to criminal damage after urinating in a police cell after being arrested for drink-driving last month.

30-year-old Ryan was pulled over by police in Ealing on April 11 at 5.30am after a night of drinking with bandmate Duncan James, and was then taken to the station where he urinated and threw up all over the cell he was held in. Ryan also refused a breath test at the time.

The officers who dealt with him described the singer as being "unsteady on his feet" and explained that his "speech was slurred" as he initially exited his vehicle.

Speaking in court, Ryan admitted that he plans to go to rehab and apologised for his shameful behaviour: "I know I’ve let people down. Being arrested and ending up in a cell was the biggest wake-up call to me. Me going to rehab isn’t a cop-out. I still take full responsibility for the way I’ve behaved."

"There is nobody to blame but myself and I’m deeply ashamed of what has happened."

All three of Ryan's Blue bandmates, Antony Costa, Simon Webbe, and Duncan James, also appeared at Ryan's hearing. He was was fined £3,325 and banned from driving for two years.
