Rihanna donates $25,000 to the LA Police Foundation

Bajan beauty Rihanna made a generous donation to the Los Angeles Police Foundation recently after breaking the President of L.A. Police Commission's mobile phone while trying to take a photo of them together.

The 'Diamonds' superstar was sitting courtside at the Clippers basketball game on Friday night when Steve Soboroff asked her to take a picture with him, but unfortunately she dropped his mobile phone and cracked the screen. Tweeting about the incident, Rihanna wrote: "Sorry I broke your phone @SteveSoboroff :)"

Soboroff is now auctioning off the phone on eBay and the current highest bid is a staggering £4,800 ($8,100) and he explained where the money raised will be allocated: "Half of the money raised will go towards the LAPD Cadet program crisis. The cadet program needs $240,000 for 300 underserved kids to enroll, attend and graduate from the multi-year program."

He added: "The other half of the money raised will go towards the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation, to support the families of fallen officers. We have tragically lost five officers since March 7, 2014."

In addition to this, Rihanna also donated a huge sum of her own money to the foundation to support officers and their families: "BIG @rihanna news: she's donating $25,000 to @LAPoliceFdtn for cadets & families of fallen officers."
