Fashion designer for Lady Gaga's ArtRave: The ARTPOP Ball tour: 'I thought the call was a joke'

25-year-old British designer Dayne Henderson has revealed that when he was contacted by Lady Gaga's team about designing outfits for her new tour, ArtRave: The ARTPOP Ball, he thought it was some kind of prank.

Henderson initially caught the pop icon's attention after posting a message on Twitter and he revealed that when he was contacted, he thought it was a joke because it was around April 1:

"I sent the tweet around April Fools Day so when they got back in touch I thought, 'This has to be a joke.' It was just nuts. I don't think I believed it until I saw her wearing the gear. It was all custom hoods, some masks and head pieces. I think she got about three and the rest were for the dancers for the full show."

He went onto add that he only had around 12 days to complete the requested pieces: "I did it, it wasn't easy but I did it."

"I was never your typical student. I didn't really fit in with all of the fashion types. Eventually I got led in the right direction and got on the right course and I think what you can take from it really is not give up. You've got to aim high and just go for it."
