Coldplay's Chris Martin on 'Ghost Stories' album: 'It feels like it has been 30 years in the making'

Chris Martin, the frontman for Coldplay, has revealed that his band's new album is really exciting for him because it feels as though he has been working on it for decades.

Speaking about his band's new album, 'Ghost Stories', the star admitted that they have been working on the material that features on it "in some ways, over 30 years, and in other ways, about two."

He told Ryan Seacrest that lyrics for the new record's songs seem to come to him “most often in the middle of the night. I don’t sleep so much between about 11 and 2 or 3" and he explained that "the idea of 'Ghost Stories' is how to turn something bad into something that gives you an uplift."

Martin went on to talk about 'A Sky Full Of Stars', which he worked on with Avicii, and opened up about how they came to collaborate

"I had that song and it had just come out of the sky about 2 o’clock in the morning about five months ago. The rest of the band were in London because we had just finished a session together, but Tim was here, so I asked him, ‘Is there any way you can come in a do this demo?’ And in about 20 minutes, he turned it into this full-on thing and it was just wonderful to do that … he was there from the beginning.”
