Last night saw the return of the Billboard Music Awards and reality TV star Kendall Jenner took the stage to introduce 5 Seconds Of Summer's performance, but made an awkward error while reading the auto cue.

Speaking directly into the camera, the young beauty said "the band about to rock the Billboard Awards comes from down under, but the direction they're heading is up [...] and now we welcome... One...", before bending over laughing and adding, "guys, I'm the worst reader". 

Writing on her official Twitter page earlier this morning about the embarrassing slip-up, Jenner explained that she has 'learned her lesson': "Anndddd as if I wasn't nervous already!!!! #NeverLeavinMyContactsAtHomeAgain! #LOL #LessonLearned."

After Jenner's presenting segment was over, the hashtag '#KendallYouHadOneJob' began trending on social networking site Twitter with fans giving their opinion all over the world. One wrote: "How do you even mess up 5 Seconds Of Summer with One Direction? Their names are completely different #kendallyouhadonejob."

The One Direction lads, meanwhile, posted supportive messages about 5SOS on their individual Twitter pages last night ahead of the Aussie heartthrobs' performance at the awards ceremony, and member Niall Horan shared: "Wanna say goodluck to our boys @5SOS, who are performing at the @OfficialBBMAs tonight! Enjoy it! see ya in Dublin boys!"
