JLo on turning down Jennifer Lawrence's dance invitation: 'I didn't mean it like that!'

Last week, actress Jennifer Lawrence revealed that she was left red-faced in front of Jennifer Lopez after the superstar declined her invitation to dance with her at a charity party.

The 'Hunger Games' beauty told Jimmy Kimmel that she approached the singer and asked her if she wanted to dance, but was left hanging after Lopez politely said no: "We came up with this plan together. We're dancing, we see JLo, and we're like, 'We've got to ask JLo to dance!' And I was like, we'll do a spin and then we'll go, 'Dance with us' [to JLo]. Basically, I do it, and then I look and he's gone! It's just me looking at JLo, going, 'Dance with... me?' And she was just looking at me. You made me look like a freak in front of JLo!"

Now, JLo has given her side of the story and confessed that she didn't turn down the offer and explained it was just a case of being misunderstood:

"This is how I remember it: I remember that we were at the Met Ball, and Kanye [West] was about to perform, and it was like a crazy moment. And then they came over—Jimmy Fallon, he started talking, and I was with Benny [Medina] and Beau [Casper Smart], and then [Jennifer Lawrence] came over, too. It was like they were a little group."

"She was like, 'Let's go dance,' and I was like, 'No, I'm good right here,'. But I didn't mean it like, 'I don't want to dance with you.' I just meant, like, 'It's so crowded in here. Let's stay right here.'"
