Coldplay shoot straight to No.1 on UK albums chart

Coldplay are on course to top the UK albums chart once again this weekend.

The band released their latest effort 'Ghost Stories' on Monday (May 19) and the Official Charts Company have confirmed that it has sold over 105,000 units this week.

This means that Chris Martin and co. are set to land their sixth UK No.1 album to date on Sunday (May 25).

At No.2 on the midweek update are Beautiful South pair Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott with their new album 'What Have We Become'.

The 20th anniversary edition of Oasis' seminal 'Definitely Maybe' is a fellow new entry at No.3 whilst last week's No.1 - Michael Jackson's 'Xscape' - is No.4.

Completing the top five this week is Paloma Faith's 'A Perfect Contradiction'.

The Black Keys' 'Turn Blue' meanwhile is No.6.
