Anti-Semitism group accept Macklemore apology over 'Jewish' costume

A leading anti-Semitism group have accepted Macklemore's apology after he was criticised for wearing what looked liked a Jew costume on stage.

The rapper turned heads recently when he appeared at an event incognito in the US before taking to the stage in a surprise set.

However, he wore a costume that included black hair and enlarged nose, with many believing that he was playing up to Jewish stereotypes.

Macklemore later issued a statement to apologise for any offence caused, insisting that there were no anti-Semitic undertones at all to the costume.

The Anti-Defamation League have now accepted the rapper's apology, with director Abe Foxman saying:

"We welcome Macklemore's apology for wearing a costume that, regardless of his motives, reminded many people of an antisemitic caricature...We take him at his word that he did not have any ill intent and unreservedly accept his apology."

"We know that Macklemore is someone who has used his platform in the past to stand up and speak out against intolerance and bigotry, particularly homophobia. With that in mind we believe that this matter is little more than 'a tempest in a teapot' over an unfortunate choice of wardrobe."
