Priest calls for 'poisonous' One Direction to be banned from the Philippines

Father Conegundo Garganta, an official from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, has urged the country's government to ban boyband One Direction from performing their following their recent drugs video scandal

Earlier this month, a video showing two of the band's members smoking marijuana surfaced online and Garganta has now called for the lads to be stopped from entering the Philippines.

He told the Manila Times that he hopes parents of youngsters will "not lead [the youth in] the wrong direction" by letting them attend the scheduled concerts that are due to take place on May 21 and 22 at the Mall of Asia concert grounds in Manila.

Garganta then added: "Why admit poisonous influences? There is enough poison in our society.”

It was also recently revealed that anti-drugs group Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino has called for the 'Story Of My Life' heartthrobs to undergo drugs tests when they arrive in the country. They also want One Direction under the surveillance of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) before and after their shows.
