Sam Smith on debut album: 'Every song is so revealing, I said too much'

British singer-songwriter Sam Smith has opened up about his debut album, 'In The Lonely Hour', and confessed that he poured his heart into the lyrics on the record and fears he 'said too much'.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest, the 'Money On My Mind' rising star admitted that all of the songs on the album are incredibly personal and he realises that he 'really opened up' on the offering:

"Every single song is revealing, I said way too much. I’ve had this realisation the other week when I was driving around London [and] there’s pictures of my face everywhere with the word Lonely underneath. I kind of realised I’ve really really opened myself up on this record.”

He went onto add that the record was inspired by a relationship fuelled by unrequited love and he has now learned that at just 22-years-old, he doesn't need to worry too much about that:

"A year ago, I was wallowing in it and I felt really sorry for myself. And then I wrote the record and I realized, I’m 22 and I’ve got a long time to get into relationships. I don’t have to take it too seriously. There’s lonely moments, but I’m now in control of them."
