5SOS say it is 'unbelievable' that people think they leading pop-punk revival

5 Seconds of Summer think it is "unbelieveable" that people think they are spearheading a revival in pop-punk.

The band take inspiration from the likes of Green Day and Blink-182 and they have generated a punky sound.

Speaking to news.com.au, the Australians admitted that they find it hard to believe that their band has grown so much that people say they are bringing back pop-punk.

Michael Clifford said: "When you start a band, you do it to have fun with your friends.

"For it now to have developed where someone is saying this is the band that could bring back pop punk, that’s unbelievable, that’s one of the craziest things in the world."

5 Seconds of Summer meanwhile are due to release their self-titled debut album in the UK on Monday (June 30).
