Demi Lovato: 'I believe that love comes in all different shapes, sizes and colours'

Songstress Demi Lovato is backing a new program from the Human Rights Campaign, which is America's largest civil-rights organisation, and in the video she shot for the project she opens up about the importance of backing same-sex marriage.

In the clip, the 'Neon Lights' beauty explained that marriage equality is something that should be in existence and she will always fight to support it:

"Let's protect love and strengthen the institution of marriage by allowing loving, caring and committed same-sex couples to legally marry. I believe that love comes in all different shapes, sizes and colours, so whether you are LGBT or straight, your love is valid, beautiful, and an incredible gift."

Lovato added: "So let's protect love and strengthen the institution of marriage by allowing loving, caring, and committed same sex couples to legally marry."

The superstar also recently explained that her own grandfather was gay and came out back in the sixties: "I've never spoken about this before, but my grandfather was a trailblazer himself. He was brave enough to come out in the 1960s, and I feel that a lot of my spirit has come from him. He passed away a few years later and I only wish he could have been able to see all the progress that has been made. It's such an honour to be welcomed and embraced by the LGBT community, so thank you very much."
