Lorde has "hardly started" working on her second album

Lorde fans may have a while to wait for the New Zealand singer’s sophomore album.

During an interview with The Guardian Lorde revealed that the follow up to her debut album ‘Pure Heroine’ is a long way off.

The 17-year-old singer/songwriter told The Guardian that she has “hardly even started” working on her second LP and describes its current state as “skeletal”. She also voiced concerns about writing new lyrics as she’s worried about the topic being “I’m on a tourbus, boo-hoo”.

Speaking about 2013’s ‘Pure Heroine’ the ‘Royals’ star said:

“The first album was about a really small world that the listener isn’t in, and it felt like a very insular world. Now I’m kind of a child of the world, I’m everywhere all the time… It’s about feeling displaced.”

In the course of the interview Lorde also said her highlight of the past year was receiving an email from author, screenwriter and director Miranda July:

“I’m such a fan…That I’m communicating with people I’ve been inspired by for a long time and that they want to hang out with me, or speak with me, and that there’s a sort of mutual appreciation, is pretty great.”

It was announced earlier this week that Lorde is nominated for Best Female Video at the MTV Video Music Awards for ‘Royals’.
