Dev Hynes appeals for witnesses to come forward after Lollapalooza security attack

Singer-songwriter Dev Hynes has asked witnesses who saw him and his girlfriend being assaulted by security guards at Lollapalooza to contact him.

The Blood Orange star and singer Samantha Urbani had performed together at the festival earlier in the day, made a speech about racism and wore homemade t-shirts emblazoned with the names of victims of police brutality including Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner.

Detailing the incident on Twitter Dev wrote:

“Samantha and I just got assaulted by the security. We are about to press charges… They grabbed her I asked what they were doing and they grabbed my neck and threw me to the ground, then two others joined in on me.”

The ‘Losing You’ composer then became concerned that Lollapalooza’s official social networks were removing posts that referred to the attack:

“Apparently people are tweeting & writing on @lollapalooza Facebook page and they keep deleting the comments… If they're doing this to the musicians playing, then how have they been treating all the attendees throughout the day?”

Former Friends singer Samantha gave her reaction on Twitter:

“Shaking/crying feeling extremely violated & generally unsafe, beyond sad we missed the eminem show we were so psyched 4… Insane how nightmare situations can just come in2 action so suddenly. Being assaulted by security & watching them attack Dev - so traumatizing.”

In a final update on the situation Hynes stated: “Ps. One of the security guards is claiming that I assaulted him which is insanity. If you saw the incident please get in touch. Thanks.”

Lollapalooza are yet to issue a statement.
